Dr Ian Gawler, OAM, BVSc, MCounsHS, is the Founder & Therapeutic
Director of the Gawler Foundation, set-up in 1982. Ian is a long-term
cancer survivor, and a pioneer in the therapeutic application of mind/body
medicine and meditation. He established Australia’s first lifestyle
based, cancer self-help group over 25 years ago.
In this program Ian shares his own personal journey to wellness,
providing hope and inspiration, as well as practical advice to those
with a life threatening illness.
Ian is also the author of four bestsellers, has edited another seven
books on mind/body medicine, and produced a series of CDs to support
his writings.
His ideas and concepts have received scientific recognition and validation
both in Australia and internationally, with many doctors addressing
lifestyle factors when treating cancer.
Today, the Gawler Foundation is a dynamic, thriving and leading life-force
in health and healing. Over 15,000 people have attended its residential
programs in Victoria’s Yarra Valley and more than 75,000 people have
benefited from its support services. The Foundation receives no Government
funding but continues to raise funds to help subsidise the cost of support
services for cancer and MS patients.
